Sephora Spring 2015 VIB Sale

Yello!

This is my first post since, forever. So, these are my Sephora haul:

Although I live in Portugal now, I have the items sent to a friend in New York (HATE the state tax). So, I don't have the items with me, here. They will probably arrive in May. But most of these are repurchase and couple of backups. The new things (newly launched and new for me) are Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil, KvD Liquid Lipstick, Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum and Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, I had wanted this foundation since FOREVER, but they don't have my shade here in Portugal (went to a Douglas store and the choice of shades were so poor). Sephora also has this little promotion going with the Estée Lauder foundation, you can add $10 on top of the foundation and they throw in a nice little set containing a deluxe sample of Advanced Night Repair (0.24 oz), a travel sized Matte Perfecting Primer (a decent 0.5 oz) and a foundation brush. The set is called Estée Lauder Perfect Match Double Wear Makeup Kit. I mean, it's a no brainer there. Oh and you can choose between two foundations, the Double Wear and Double Wear Light (the one in the tube). My shade is 2W2 Rattan, light to medium with warm beige. My skin tone is not too yellow but not pink either.

Sunday Riley Luna, now this one's a big ticket item and quite an investment. God, I hope it agrees with my skin!! I have been hearing GREAT things about this product, even though it's quite new. I was about to order Good Genes, but it will probably too much for my skin, since I had just introduced the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and Pai Skincare Rosehip BioRegenerate Fruit & Seed Oil Blend to my night time routine. The Luna Oil contains a retinoid ingredient, I'm going to be 30 this year and I think I'm ready for that lol. The oil is BLUE, like BLUE. I think Sunday Riley's got enough shit from some people because the oil also contains a colorant on top of the blue tansy, that's… well, purple/blue ish color.

I literally have been waiting for YEARS to try Lolita on my lips! It's always out of stock! And when I got the email notifying that it's back on stock: add to cart and BUY! I have Stila Patina and love it, can't wait to compare that with Lolita.

Oh and I also bought Make UpFor Ever Rouge Artist Intense shade #27 but totally forgot to include it in the picture, oh well.

The rest of the haul is repeat purchase. Can't live without BeautyBlender. Like seriously, I've never used a foundation brush since I got the sponge in late 2013 I think? Jack Black lip balm is the best ever and they're $7.50 each! I still have a backup and bought three. Clinique cleansing balm is great for removing makeup, my skin feels so supple and hydrated after cleansing I just want to touch my face all the time. I just opened a new jar last week and I need to have one unopened in my back up drawer so that I wouldn't lose my shit if I hit the bottom of the jar. I might try a more "high end" cleansing balm in the future, Eve Lom maybe? Or the Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter.

OneDirection "This Is Us 3D" World Premiere: The Clothes

OK, so this is an ooold draft I'm trying to salvage. When I was in UK couple of months ago (August I fink?) I came across the photos from the OneDirection world premiere of something something (I'll get it right for the title) lol... But please, check out the clothes, oh the glorious clothes! I've always paid attention of what the boys are wearing, because they're awesome, that's why. Lol.

I'll have to confess I only know the names of two boys, Zayn and Harry. Zayn because he's hot (no pedo) and Harry because he's chums with T. Swift. I know there's a Liam, but I don't know which and the names of the last two escape me. PERDONAME!!

Now would you look at this beauty (the jacket!). It's the harness jacket by Lee Roach from his F/W 2013 collection. I remember clicking a link to Harvey Nicks website, that brought me to a similar jacket, but not exactly the same style pictured below. I really REALLY dig this jacket. I have a similar one by Zara without the leather part and the middle tie (the harness?) and apparently Pippa Middleton has one too, lol.

Seriously this jacket, is so so chic it hurts...to learn that the price is so damn expensive, unlike the pleather Topman jacket the next dude below is sporting.

Now, can you believe that this guy's wearing pleather? Yes, faux leather. Synthetic! To a red carpet premiere! I guess it's good for the animal lovers out there? But the jacket looks a million dollar. I like the biker/sporty-sleek combo.

I swear I have the link to Topman website that light your path to this jacket but it got lost in August so I can only show the picture I took from Topman website.

Now for this one, I kept the link in the draft so I can link where you can buy this cool varsity (hopefully) Saint Laurent Leather-Trimmed Wool-blend Varsity Jacket

Harry's shirt is Burberry Prorsum Heart Print Cotton Shirt, available in navy blue, deep claret and black & white. It's flirty, but not creepily so. Still acceptable and totally adorbs. In my opinion, Harry, most of the times, is the stylish-est of them all. And apparently he's worn it several times before the premiere! Re-using clothes FTW (only if you're a celebrity).

I'm not even going to talk about the dude with the capri pants and small jacket. Love his shoes and the pocket square, but that's it. No love for you.

Coastal Scents Black Friday Sale

I placed an order on Coastal Scents (17 individual brushes) just before I typed this post. I don't really do brush set, the only sets I have are Real Techniques and an old Estée Lauder GWP set from yonks ago. But the 50% sale was just too much!! I spent about 4 hours on the website before deciding on the chosen seventeen—fourteen, really. I bought backups for 2 brushes, the Pro Blending Fluff and the Classic Blender Crease Natural. I'm going to write a review post when the brushes arrive.

COASTAL SCENTS
50% entire website!!

This is my first Coastal Scents order. I don't think I need their massive palettes and their brush sets. But I really want to try their Hot Pots next.

NYX Cosmetics Mini Haul + Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone

I love NYX Cosmetics, they're affordable and some of their items are really really great. The shadows are the first single shadows I bought from NYX. Iced Mocha is dubbed as MAC's Satin Taupe dupe all over is internet. Naturally, I have to get it. I didn't plan to get Flamingo, hell, I didn't even know the shade existed until I Googled for NYX swatches. It's a beautiful purplish gold, almost duo chrome-y and probably will look better on fair skin? I have medium skin and I'm not sure how it will look on me. Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants!

The Round Lipsticks are repurchases except for Snow White. I need a in-yo-face red, I was actually going to buy NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella in Sephora's VIB Sale, but then I read some reviews that say it's a pain to sharpen the pencils, because they're soft and there's a lot of wastage.

  1. Single Eye Shadow Flamingo
  2. Single Eye Shadow Iced Mocha
  3. Slide On Pencil Brown Perfection
  4. Single Eye Shadow Silk
  5. Round Lipstick Snow White
  6. Black Label Lipstick Diva
  7. Kiss the Star Lipgloss Set
  8. Round Lipstick B52
  9. Round Lipstick Milan

I also bought Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone Palette. I finally gave in. I convinced myself that I don't need it but a comment on Temptalia website somehow assured me... And in the cart it went. I'm weak like that.

The lipgloss set was such a steal I think it's $10 for 3 lipglosses. The colors are Sugar Pie, Beige (Beige is the pink color), and Natural. I want to try NYX Black Label Lipstick, but the swatches of the Black Label always looked sheerer than the Round Lipstick, I like opaque colors but I thought I'd try one.

I love product photography, it's the reason why I'd rather put a collage of pics from NYX rather than posting my half-assed photos. It's 11 pm and my room lighting is far from perfect. I may post the real pictures of the haulage some time next week.

Cheers!

Sephora 2013 VIB Sale: Wishlist

Yello!

Tis the season to be jolly. And broke, apparently. So here's my carefully curated list for Sephora's 2013 VIB Sale

I have Naked 2 and I'm so impressed, I decided to get its predecessor. Just after I placed my order on Sephora, I read the news on the blogosphere that Urban Decay is launching its third installment (fourth, if you count Naked Basics) of Naked palette. Apparently Sephora France accidentally sold Naked 3 too early and some people managed to buy them before Sephora pulled the palette off the shelves!

One lucky French blogger uploaded the swatches: Whee Confetti

2. LORAC Pro Palette - OUT OF STOCK

I'm still on the fence about this foundation. Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ is my fail-proof foundation. I like the coverage, the staying power and shade 35 matches perfectly with my post-summer skin. The kit contains the HD primer, HD powder and the kabuki brush as well. It's a great way to try the items before committing to the full sized products.

With the help of a beautiful elf in Denver, I managed to place an order on Sephora's website. Too bad the Hourglass palette is out of stock. As a matter of fact, all their individual Ambient Lighting Powders are out of stock as well. LORAC Pro Palette is also out of stock but I got mine at Ulta (yay!)

Game of Thrones Characters... in '80s & '90s Clothing

I stumbled upon this EW article today and my Sunday morning got 10 times better. The images are the work of Tokyo-based, French artist Mike Wrobel. These are brilliant and one of the most well-thought and well-made fanarts. Check his tumblr page for images inspired by other famous pop culture icons.

HOUSE STARK

Jon Snow is a Nirvana fan, naturally. Longclaw was replaced by a bat emblazoned with the word STARK, the handle is wrapped in white cloth bandage-type thingy that also resembles the white handle of Longclaw.

And Sansa Stark loves her boybands.

Arya, the pre-Kings Landing, innocent Arya.

House Lannister

Lord Tywin, a tad less cunning-looking than I'd hoped.

Cersei Lannister. Looks a lot like real life Lena Headey? Well of course, because she plays the Queen, but I mean like, her personal style, if that makes sense?

Jaime Lannister, Don Johnson's (Detective Crockett) Miami Vice doppelgänger.

Tyrion in '80s colour-clashing Lannister red and gold shirt.

The filthiest scum of the Westeros that is King Joffrey. I hoped he accidentally pulled the trigger and blow his family jewels (pun intended) LOL

Mother of Dragon, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. Try to say it 10 times, fast.

The Dothraki Khal is a NIN fan? Abso-f**king-lutely!

Theon Greyjoy, pre Ramsay Bolton.

Margaery Tyrell, the Coachella Queen

Brienne of Tarth, kickin' it like no other.

This is precious, Bronn in Adidas tracksuit! Very aptly made, this one!

(Some of) My Favourite Paintings

OK, that didn't take me long for second post haha... I don't know anything about arts or paintings and I can't draw or paint to save my life, but I love looking at beautiful paintings. This is a recycled post of one of my Facebook notes in 2009, with few additions and omissions.

The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh, the awesomest of the awesomest of all. I can stare at this painting for hours and hours... OK, maybe fifteen minutes lol.

Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I is one of the most stunning paintings in the history of mankind. The details, the yellow burst of colors, the freaky eyes all over her skirt, her expression, her statement jewelries even before ASOS and Topshop Premiums lol! Everything about this painting just screams of masterpiece.

This is Dutch Proverbs by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. I like the busi-ness pictured in the painting.

My other fav, Le Bar aux Folies-Bergère by Edouard Manet. I love her small waist, the crowd behind her, and how she looked kind of lonely even though she's surrounded by a crowd.

One of my all-time fav, Liberty Leading the People by Eugene Delacroix. Coldplay uses it for their cover art of Viva la Vida. She's topless but there's nothing vulgar about it, methinks. Love!

Next, Moulin de la Galette by Renoir. I have a thing for Renoir paintings. They're sublime.

Another one by John Everett Millais, Spring (Apple Blossoms). This is like the old take of a girls' day out. Talking about cute boys while combing and braiding each others' hair... But the reaper scares the hell out of me!

The Regatta Seen from Ca Foscari by Canaletto. The view is breathtaking, almost like a photograph.

Mäda Primavesi by Gustav Klimt. This painting reminds me of Mia Wasikowska's character in Stoker, in Technicolor. Lol.

Also by Millais, Princes in the Tower. I love the expressions of the two princes. Especially the older (I assume) one. The younger one is so beautiful!

I always wonder what were the artists thinking when they created these masterpieces? Were their brain so different than the rest of us? I can't, for the life of me, even draw an apple right, but these people... I'm grateful.
